BIOGRAPHY

Born in upstate New York, Zane received his Master's degree from Cornell University in 2003. His work has been shown nationally in such venues as the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston; MassMoca in North Adams, Ma; Lora Reynold's Gallery in Austin, Tx; Artists Space in New York. Zane's work explores ontological questions: What is art? What does it mean to be an artist? How does meaning in art function? How does the art market work? What is the place of an artist in all of this? He approachs these questions with equal parts gravity and humor, producing allegorical installations that mix painting, drawing, sculpture, video, and publications. In 2008 Zane was a finalist for the James and Audrey Foster Prize. He has received reviews in Art in America, Art Papers, Tema Celeste and other publications.
